The means and methods by which we collect data are thoughtful and precise. But we’re not scientists, we’re designers. We do not prove, or disprove hypothetical statements. We create hypothetical situations (interactions) and wait to see what happens. It’s chaotic, naturalistic, and unpredictable. Welcome to the rhetoric of design; failure is good! This is not a strategy of faith but rather one of action. John Cage says, “begin anywhere.”  Be certain in your uncertainty which requires living inside your data.
